Type: Out and Back
Length: 26 miles
Rating: Easiest (depending on distance)
Perfect for beginners, families, children or those looking for a long uninterrupted workout. Road bikes and rollerblades can be used on the paved Park City section.
Basin Recreation worked with the Mountain Trails Foundation and Park City Municipal on a connector trail that ties the Rail Trail to the National Ability Center access road. This trail allows trail users to use the Highway 248 underpass to connect from Park City to the Round Valley Trail system.
Users can also link the Promontory South Canyon singletrack trail, south to the ROCMON trail, down to the Rail Trail and back to South Canyon. This makes for a great loop in both early and late season!
Notes: This wide and relatively flat trail is paved through Park City, and turns to compacted base after leaving Prospector Square. Find the trailhead off Bonanza Drive and Prospector or off Wyatt Earp Way. Be aware! The Rail Trail is downhill going out of town and uphill (typically with a head wind) returning to Park City.
