Type: Out and Back; Loop
Rating: Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced
Princess Di Trail:
Length - 8 miles
This is an advanced trail that is technical, isolated and long. Access is from the Promontory Trailhead located along the Rail Trail. Ride up the Three Mile Canyon paved trail. Shortly thereafter, users are treated to a great adventure that offers great views of Eastern Summit County. Narrow, winding singletrack and tight switchbacks offer trail users a wild feeling...something not experienced much in the Park City area. If you plan to ride the whole trail, be prepared with water and food, as the trail can be hot and exposed during the months of July and August. The trail can be done as an out and back, or as a loop by connecting to the Rail Trail at TollGate Canyon. You must cross I-80 on the over pass and ride through the culvert under the west bound lane in order to do this. The loop from the Promontory trailhead is approximately 16 miles in length.
Three Mile Canyon Trail:
Length -3 miles
This trail is paved and has a soft shoulder trail along the side of it. It climbs several hundred feet in the first two miles and then descends the last mile to the beginning of Princess Di Trail. This is a great workout with burleys and baby joggers. The soft shoulder allows easy traveling for horses and as a great access to Princess Di Trail.
South Canyon Trail:
Length -5 miles
This trail begins just before the gatehouse at Promontory along the Three Mile Canyon Trail. The first half mile is a gravel road and then turns to single track as it meanders along the hillside over to Brown's Canyon Road. This is an easy mountain bike ride with a few easily negotiable, technical rocky sections. Users should keep an eye out for the new ROCMON Trail that connects users from South Canyon to the Rail Trail. Makes for a great early and late season loop!
